I think everybody has this one "special shot" that you fell in love with (for maybe no particular reason), and that made you get more into photography, right? Do you want to share?

I'm curious to see yours!!! :D

I started getting into photography about 8 years ago, 2000/2001, when I just finished school ... Here are a couple:

1. A photo of a dear friend of mine ... we were just fooling around ... I know it's far from being a perfect shot (cropped eye and stuff), but I really liked the glamorous look somehow :D :lust

2. A pic I took while I was in Venice:

3. A photo I took of a friend of mine in Hawaii. I know ... blew her white shirt, but I always loved it
461435005_9KGns-M.jpg

4. A pic from my trip to Chicago (I was there with my architecture class - yup, I studied architecture) ... Btw. LOOOOOOVE Chicago. Got a couple more shots from there that are in my "ol time favorites, ....

(Sorry, guess I can't count ... #5 is missing)

6. Haha, that photo is from my first "photo shoot". A friend of mine & I were basically just messing around ... it was definitely a fun day ... and I think she got some cool photos :rofl

What a great idea for a post.

For me, I've always loved art. and Photography amongst other things is just another way to express it....With these images below, I often was taken aback by what I saw and felt a need to record it. Simple images, but the feelings remain.

The early days: These boys fit my idea of what it meant to be friends. Walking arm in arm down the street...definitely not something I would have witnessed growing up in the deep south: Naples 1976
    346519037_nSsHt-M.jpg

Taking simple portraits of my friends always interested me. Was it the light, or the mood ?? I really don't know..
    346520159_GFouA-M.jpg

    Another:
    346519136_sbDZQ-M.jpg

Sometimes it was anticipation of an event:
    346518801_Uz8kB-M.jpg

    Or an event itself:
    346518786_fFcwS-M.jpg

Then it was a record of personal events: Like seeing my first PUNKS circa 1978: Adrian and me (bearded) saw these two and I had to have someone else shoot us together...Pink haired chick none too impressed!
    346517179_Zo8TU-M-1.jpg

And I was awed by the History:
    346518052_WmtnE-M.jpg

Segueing forward...children: Such joy..so much to record:
    346457995_7eYRL-M.jpg

    achievements:

I feel fortunate to have sight! I wouldn't have wanted to miss any of these moments.

    Thanks, tom

Yeah. I planned on it taking a lot longer than it did..Got the scanner wired up beside me, box on the other and computer in between.. and the absolute hardest part was THROWING the scanned away...Hard...but, I did put a few special photos away for my kids.

And yes, she did love the photo book...easy!

If I can figure out which hard drive all my old scans are on I might be able to contribute more....

    For now...

This first is a shot I took of my son at my parent's home.....19 years ago.

Shot with a Pentax ME Super 35mm SLR and (probably) a 24-70mm zoom. I am glad to see that I was at his eye level and had a rule of thirds thing going as well.....even if the BG is distracting.....and tilted.
    462977509_DdcfH-L.jpg

This one....I didn't take, and unfortunately have no idea who did....but

That is my Uncle Alex aboard a chartered fishing boat on his way to a day of off-shore fishing out of Port Fourchon, Louisiana. When I was 16, He lent me a 35mm SLR...an old Canon, and a standard lens. He explained to me how ISO, shutter speed, and aperture relate to one another and showed me how to use the built-in light meter (an anolog needle) and load the film. At the time, I was capturing images of local archetecture to reproduce in pencil and watercolor, but it wasn't long before I was capturing the images only for the sake of photography. I recieved the Pentax the following year as a graduation gift. He still gets a good many emails from me with photo attatchments, and still is VERY encouraging in regards to my photographic journey. In truth, he taught me everything I REALLY needed to know about photography, and has supported me every step of the way.

My best guess is that my father shot this photo with my uncles 35mm Canon...the one mentioned above. Thinking he brought it along and they took a turn each of taking a photo of one another....there is a matching shot or two of my Dad on the same boat.

(tried to post this last night but SM was going through, well, things.....)
Not so vintage, but definitely a favorite!
This was taken on an "Olympus D-490 ZOOM" camera, "2.1 Megapixel" point-n-shoot. This was our family's first digital camera circa <2000 (?).
    Images were 1600x1200 jpg.
Image was captured sometime after 2000, but given the cr*p around the subject, not too long after. I think I got rid of that computer etc. not long after we moved to this house.

Also kinda sad because this particular family member just died a few weeks ago. :cry At least her sister is still around tearing up the house and terrorizing the kids. <img src="https://us.v-cdn.net/6029383/emoji/clap.gif" border="0" alt="" >

This pic is from a "shoot" I did with my daughter and my Fuji Finepix. This pic is one from that afternoon- it was a pivotal point in my photographic life.

Oh, come on now! You can't just drop that bomb and leave it there. Now we are all just dying to know "the rest of the story!"

BTW - very attractive young lady you have there! Nice PP as well.

Laughing.gif... sure I can! Just kidding. I fell in love with photography as I took pictures of my kids through babyhood and the toddler years. After this staged shoot with my daughter, I started seriously thinking about taking my photography beyond "just for fun". Soon after that a friend asked me to photograph her sister's wedding as a gift. I don't know how wise that was in hindsight given my knowledge at the time (lol), but I had so much fun, loved every minute of it (my other pivotal moment), and now I'm working my way towards turning photography into a full-time "job". I think doing something you're passionate about as a living is a dream come true.

So there it is, in a nutshell. Anyone else care to share??? ;)

I got my first SLR back in '72. I took a lot of photos through high school and into college, but then left for many years. Always meant to come back to it. Kids is what brought me back. The above post by AspectArts pretty much sums up my experience.

Here is a photo of my son that was somewhat pivotal for me... flaws and all, I started to see possibilities. I've since taken paid gigs and am starting to show a little as well. I'm taking some newspaper assignments too as a stringer... All in the name of getting better of course. It may never be a full time job... until retirement... ;-)

AspectArts, what also caught my eye about your post was that yours was done with a Fuji Finepix. The following was taken with a Finepix. It's my wife's camera now... great little digital...

Gosh, these were my very first polaroids. I remember when the polaroid i-zone came out. I was waitressing at my first job. I was 17 and thought how edgy I was to pick one up rolleyes1.gifThe pictures are thumbnail sized, but they're keepers. This first one is my fellow waitress, Serina, who took me under her wing; the second one is of her daughter Margie.

I'll miss polaroids. I don't have the i-zone anymore, but I did recently pick up a polaroid 680se, currently on its way to me. Where I'm going to get the film is another thing entirely -_- Probably from Ebay as well.
