Hello to everyone,
I am new to the forum and have limited experience with photography, mostly P&S. I have been lurking and learning. I have been trying some macros, lots of subject matter here in Panama. I need better light and to work on my focusing.
A couple shots, all comments are most welcome. Thank you for looking.
1. A guandu eating worm, would not stay still for the photos.
2. This one is almost deceased, but he made a good subject as he didn,t move around much.
4. I read the "Focusing Staking" exercise, this is my first attempt.

Hi there Aguadulce, and welcome to the MACRO forum.
You've slightly missed the focus on the head of the caterpillar,
he must be pretty small because even though it looks like he is attempting to eat a Big Green Apple, it's a pea isn't it
That second little guy doesn't look to well at all does he.
Is it some kind of cockroach?
Very good effort on your Focus Stack, a little cropping will help that one.
Well done Agudulce, I fixed your fonts colour change for you.
Thanks for sharing, and I hope you will continue to share your work and learn more from everyone here on the Dgrin Forum

Hello Phil,
Thank you for the comments. Yes, I need to revisit the tutorial thread on "Focus Stacking", I remembered it while taking the photos and thought I would have a go.
No flash, I only have the on-camera flash. Will have to consider a macro type flash as the budget allows. I also have a lot of wildlife nearby, but need a longer lens. Always somthing else needed.
Seems like all the good subjects like dark, hidden places.
Hello Skippy,
Thank you for the welcome and comments.
In the first photo the moving worm and low light does not work. The Big Green Apple is called guandù, similar in size to a pea, but not soft. They grow on bushes and are very tasty with rice or in soups.
Yes, I believe the second fellow is of the cockroach family, they live under piles of wood and like to eat paper.
I purchased my brother-in-law's old dSLR a few months ago, have been practicing and educating myself about photogrphy. This forum has been an excellent source of information, with some amazing photos and friendly helpful members.
Thanks for fixing the font color too.
