Night Heron

Don't get to see these round here very often but we have a colony of around 11 of these beautiful birds. They sound like little dogs flying home to roost. Comments welcome, still learning this new 50D.

    Is this a different bird than the Black-crowned Night-heron?

    I googled Night Heron but could not find a pic or discription of one that looks like your shot.ne_nau.gif

    See the head is different in my shot of a BCNH.

    I believe that is Yellow Crown NH

    and what we have in the West is Black Crown NH

    I think or something like that :D

    Whatever NH it is it is a good Caprture thumb.gif

    Thanks.. yes I think it's a yellow crowned.. this one lives in Florida on the Nature Coast north of Tampa.

    Nice capture of a yellow crowned night heron. thumb.gif We don't see them in my neck of the woods. :cry

    Nice shot of this yellow crowned. I do not see these that often but they are around.
