How do I change the Category of a Gallery?

I have 60+ galleries of pictures of my family all from 2008 sorted by the dates the pics were taken. Now that I am getting ready to upload pictures from 2009, I thought it would be nice to have all the 2008 pictures in a file or category of their own. Easily accessible but not cluttering up the page. Is this even an option? I created new categories for 2008 and 2009 specifically and I would like it if I can keep them all separate so I can add from previous years too and keep it user friendly.

    The only way to change the category of a gallery is to one by one go into the customize gallery screen and set a new category for each gallery.
