Repair on Minolta Autometer IVF too much

I written before about my Minolta meter not metering flash correctly. I've seen read about others having this problem, so decided to try and get it fixed. So I called Sony, and was quoted a flat rate of $181. :crazy I hope this is not indicative of what owners of other Minolta and Sony gear face.

Since it's consistently off, I'll probably just live it. Anyone have any other suggestions on repairing an old Minolta light meter?

If the meter is reading "hot" or high, too much exposure related to the camera settings, then you can sometimes just add some diffusion material under the dome to get close to calibration. If the meter is reading low there is not much to do except create a calibration chart and note the adjustments required for an accurate exposure.

I am not able to find any "field" re-calibration procedures for that meter unfortunately.

Thanks. I'm going start with some wax paper and see how that works. "X sheets of wax paper = Y stops". :D
