This post comes from the Belfast Fire Dept. in Maine, where I sit on call waiting for the call to go out and help thaose in need, as another 8 to 14 inches blanket the countryside. While I don't mind the winter weather I am begining to miss all of the great color that is currently under a blanket of white. This is making me think of warmer times and prictures I have taken with more color available as well as water not in solid state. So here are some of my favorite waterfall/river shots from two of my favorite hikes in the Colmbia River Gorge in Oregon.
#1 The view up from the trailhead below Whakeena Falls
#2 At the top of Whakeena Falls the trail follows Whakeena Brook
#3 As you approach Whakeena Spring the brook is more like one long cascade.

#7This waterfall is called Ponytail Falls, also known as upper Horsetail Falls. I like the way that the trail actually passes behind the falls
