Hi everybody!

Inspired by the beautiful macro images some people (Lord V !) create, I decided to start playing around with macro photography as well. I didn't really want to invest heavily in lenses from the get go, so I bought myself a used Canon 28 mm FD lens, a reverse ring and a (really) cheap set of tubes to see what it's like.

And it's hard! :wink But practice makes perfect I guess.
Anyway, I hope to be able to post some nice shots here in the future.

Here's a shot I made with the reversed 28 mm. The screw was shot using a light tent, a 430ex flash unit and no diffusers or anything. Magnification is about 2:1 (the image here is a crop)

    welcome to the forum:D

good first shot, appears to be good focus & light not too bad.
yes it does take alot of practise.
pic a little small, try around 900-1010 pixels width.

Wow Jax this is an excellent start with your setup indeed :ivar
I like the light, I need to make myself a light box.

What a great result, I was never successful at using a lense in reverse.
All the best for your future shoots, hope you will share more with us. thumb.gif

Thanks for the nice comments everyone!

I shot tethered and tried a good 40 times before I had a few shots that were reasonably in focus. mwink.gif

Didn't use any tubes for this one though

I agree - it's a very fine shot. I really like the lighting in the picture. Well done!

An excellent shot for starters. It certainly is not easy but with practice you will certainly get there. I am still finding it difficult but interesting.
