How to accomplish various goals on one site

OK, I signed up for SmugMug. Now I have to actually set up a site. The problem is, I have several groups of users, and kind of conflicting goals. My users are
1. Friends and family who want to look at kid snapshots. I would like them to be able to see the relevant galleries consolidated together, and navigate around them. Unlisted galleries don't work because they don't show up on the homepage, thus no consolidation. My relatives are not very computer-savy, so they would lose the URLs quickly. Sharegroups won't work because several relatives are so petrified of the Internet that they will not enable cookies. I *think* I could ask them to enter a password, if it is an easy one.
2. Groups of parents whose children I have photographed at various events (this is kind of a hobby). They could definitely enter a password, and it would probably make them feel better, in fact.
3. I might want to have some public galleries in case I want to participate more fully in the photography aspects of SmugMug.
How should I do this? Should I set up my homepage to contain public, password protected galleries? Maybe I should have categories such as Personal (for the relatives), and by parent group (Families With Children From China, Band Of Parents, Waverly Kindergarten, Aikido, etc), and set a password by parent group? Is that possible? Am I overlooking a better organization?
thanks for any advice!
