galleries page

HELP!!!

Please forgive me for being computer illiterate. I am trying to get only a slide show on my homepage with a link to my galleries. I have read all of the previous questions and answers but to no avail. I am sad to say that I am having trouble knowing what web address to enter in the header box. Please someone speak my language and help.
