Snow and Ice

Not sure where else to post this...so I'll put it here...

Yuck! I got to work at my usual time today. It wasn't so bad when I came in. The roads were wet with rain but they were also still mostly covered in snow and now ice. Later in the morning it started to change from rain to snow...HEAVY snow. It was strange to see so few people at work. I had to leave around 10am when my wife called and said the power went off in the house. Ice was heavy on the trees so limbs were snapping and falling on the electric lines all over town. Two colleagues (Katja and Ulrike) needed a ride home because of the terrible road conditions. Since I drove my truck, it was no problem. So off we went. I took them home (it was on the way) and I continued towards home. My driveway was still covered in snow but I tried to drive up in 4 wheel drive. This usually works fine but since the snow was so wet and deep, I couldn't make it. I parked my truck at the bottom of the hill. Out comes the tractor again. I used the tractor to clear off my driveway and two of the in-law's driveways. Once that was done I was able to drive up to my house. The electric was still off so I got some firewood to burn in my fireplace. It doesn't put out much heat, but it's better than nothing. Around 6pm the power came back on. Around 6:30pm, the power went off again! Then around 7:30 the power was back on (for good I hope).
