Red Cardinal on Ice...

I was out walking around in the snow, looking for birds- and I came across a few Cardinals that were feeding on something that was under one of the trees- as I approached they flew up off the ground and into the tree branches above- this actually helped me out! I took a bunch of shots, but only a few of them worked out how I liked them... my first time actually trying to get wild bird photos... its hard! (especially with only a 70-200 f4)

here are today's photos that I liked :D
(only minor post processing, crop and contrast adjust- shot in jpeg)

Looks like he does not like the cold- standing on one foot!

thanks for looking! c/c welcome :D (and please post your photos of your Cardinals too if you like, for comparison/sharing!) I am from the Seattle area and I don't normally see these birds... so for me, this is new :wink

Classic winter cardinal! As far C&C goes Austin, the head looks a bit dark and could use some brightening. The second image could have the subject de-centered a bit for comp's sake, but other than that they are two nice images of a winter cardinal.

    Nice shots
They are really tricky to get so good job!! We just had an ice storm roll through here and those poor birds...they were hop scotching from foot to foot.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

    More Photography . . . Less Photoshop [. . . except when I do it]
