The lighting looks nice and even. Seems like the focus didn't quite grab the head? ne_nau.gif Must be tough shooting insects, I've never tried it.

Thanks Greaper and Wxwax. I am pretty happy with the lighting. The lightsphere is large compared to the bug at the working distance for macro, so it seems to work as a soft box type lighting. Here is another. Nailed the head on this one.

Its a plastic light modifier that goes over the flash head of a hot shoe mounted flash. It kind of looks like the bottom of a 1/2 gallon milk jug and fits snugly to the flash. (different versions for different flashes). It's kind of a mini softbox of sorts. Works well for candid pics, but I have been trying it out as a poor mans macro flash.

Nice pictures Thomas, I'll have to try that.
Did you point the LS2 straight towards the subject?

Yes, straight ahead for those shots. I have also tryed pivoting the flash head 45 degress left or right to try and get a little directional lighting. Seems to work pretty well.

Thanks Tim & Tina. Tina, I will be interested to know how you like the lightsphere. I think it is a really great little invention, especially for the money.

I got a lightsphere a week or so ago...

of course at the rate I shoot, I haven't even used it yet.

I must have the highest ratio of equipment per exposure, since I shoot so few... :(
