Frustrations removed

Two things have been frustrating me for a long time. One is the fact that I've been stuck with dial-up for so long that it was really making it a chore to view some threads here on DGrin. Well, problem solved with the installation of satellite last October. It's not cable or DSL but much, much better than dial-up. That left frustration #2, the lack of a dSLR, my last obstacle to joining the really 'high tech' crowd. :D Problem solved last week when I finally sprung for my first dSLR. Not real fancy, just a Canon XSi with the kit lens, 18-55mm IS, and a 55-250mm IS. It's a meager start but I'm looking forward to the fun of learning.

Shooting through my kitchen window, here's a few of my efforts. C/C welcome please.

And I wish this one had been in focus. She was certainly having a bad hair day. :D

But she got herself straightened out for the final portrait.

Thanks for lookin'

You chose a nice kit to start with, it should serve you well. I got my first DSLR two weeks ago and it is such a change from my faithful Minolta A2 digicam. And so much more complex to work with.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

    Very nice start.
The SXi is a very good camera. I've used one since they came out, and until I got my 5DMKII.

I have no advice or critique, those cardinals are just beautiful! Great lighting.

I have two couples of cardinals that live in my backyard, I've been thinking about trying to put out feeders or whatever to attract them so I can get some pix.

    Great shots!

    Thank you Sarah. Appreciate it.

And thank you Glenn. 'Bout time on the camera eh? At my age time is slipping by pretty fast. I've got a lot of work to do. Uh oh, let's see......where'd I put that camera? :D
