Need Help w/ lens problem

Ok, so I bought a D90 a few months ago and asked the sales rep what other lenses could I use with the D90, so he suggested a Sigma Auto Focus lens 28-300mm F3.5-6.3 DG Macro. And I can hardly use it without it giving me error messages and freezing up the camera and can not get it to unfreeze, I turn it off and back on and nothing than it just unfreezes, but it keeps doing this and I don't know if it's user error or the lens, I am getting a bit fustrated because I have only been able to use the lens like 3x.

I don't know what to do with it as I can not find my receipt and am sure I can not take it back to the store, so i'm lost....

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

    Hi there,

So you bought the camera at the same store and same time? Any markings on the box(es) as to where they were purchased?

You paid cash with no receipt (found)? if debit or credit/check; use a copy of that!

Even if you have none of those particular things, you could still go back to the store and try. "I need help!" with a smidgen of charm.

    cheers, tom

If you get the error again, before you run off to the store, list the settings of the camera and lens here.
It really could be something very simple.

Most of us have been bitten by the aperture ring bug once or twice since moving to digital.

    Now show us some shots

Thanks, I have patience with my camera, but I don't know about all this software (photoshop / lightroom)... Trying to get the hang of it... I hate to read I am one of those people who will sit here and try and try until I get it on my own... But I think I am going to have to read for this one!! lol...
