I work at Muskegon Airport in western Michigan. The area is notorious for icing conditions which can be very hazardous for aircraft, especially if not equipped with deicing equipment.
This winter we have a company leasing hanger space here with a helicopter designed with its own deicing equipment. They fly when ever icing conditions are reported purposely flying into those conditions.
From my vantage point you can see the tops of the rotors in the photo. I am not sure if the rotors have a deicing boot or are bleeding edge. If I had to guess I would say they are boots.
I believe this will be the first non-military helicopter certified with deicing equipment.
