some silly SP from the weekend
cross lit with 2 strobes behind umbrellas using onboard commader mode on my d90 and 85mm 1.4 at f/13. 1st time with off camera strobes in this setting. I think they turned out okay! How'd I do?

2 and 4 in particular are GREAT! The only one I'm not digging quite so much is the last one, because of the shadowing in the "dead spot" where the lights crossed, but other than that they're teh awesome. You look like you had a blast with these!
Did you have your strobes pointing down on you at a 45?
Your hair seems not to be lit

hmm..I hadn't thought of that. I will have to give that a go.
Thanks..it was fun. It took a bout 45 min to setup though..even setup a a mirror so I could see my expressions as I took the shots. That was key!

They were kind level with my face and 18 inches away on either side. One strobe was TTL the other was set manual around 1/16 or so.

my real job
looking for someone to photograph my wedding 8/11
I used some light beige linen like fabric from the fabric store. But I was standing maybe 5 feet from it. The flashes were very close to my body/face so the light never reached the back drop. It just dissolved into smooth greyish underexposed bokeh I suppose. I need s 3rd flash to light it up or stand closer..I just wanted to avoid shadows.
