My daughter decided to try and control the ball with her face instead of a more conventional header.

Other than the red mark on her cheek, she was no worse for the effort.

Yowza! Quite the timing on that shot, Mitch! Glad she wasn't hurt! These are nice and sharp with great color and DOF.

    Thanks, Elaine.

That field is tough to shoot. It's got ugly baseball dugouts all around. Not much of a backdrop.:cry

    tough (and beautiful) daughter!

What shutter speeds are needed to freeze the soccer ball like that?

These were taken at 1/4000. I generally try to keep the SS above 1/1000 if you want to try and freeze the ball. Fast glass really helps.mwink.gif

Great shots, Mitchell. Heading/facing/mouthing the ball never seems to faze them, does it?

I can't imagine having enough light to shoot at 1/4000! Wow!

I am typically working at f5.6, 1/640 to 1/1250. And as the light fades, I stop down as needed.
