My wife got me a D700 for Valentines Day!!!! I'm shooting an indoor arenacross this weekend in Austin. I can't wait to see the difference in low light shooting from my D300. WOW, I'm speachless!

Does anyone else here a D700?

Congratulations. You must have a really great wife! I don't have the d700...skipped that and went to the D3 but you will love the full frame! I just hope you have a lens for it :) Good luck with your shoot!

Treat your wife well. She is a keeper.

Congrats. I wanted a D3 but I was frankly VERY lucky to get my D300 by the wife. You know the rule, "A happy wife is a happy life."

Does she have a younger sister, say in her early twenties looking for an up-and-coming Canadian photographer? :Drolleyes1.gif

Brother... Jealous!!! Mind you, I have yet to sleep on the couch for all my purchases! I still have to figure out a way to get her to buy some upgrades - any hints for the rest of us!Laughing.gif!!

Congrats, looking forward to a full report on the low light! I will be needing some awesome shots from the Supercross!!!

Congrats! I just got a D700 last week as my D300 shutter pooped out at 160K frames (Nikon is fixing it under warranty, woohoo).

Indoor/stadium light ability is way better on the D700, like everyone has said, though it's not like ISO5000 is noise free, ISO4000 is pretty clean though. I miss the extra zoominess of the DX sensor. I haven't tried the 70-200 2.8 lens on it yet, so I haven't seen the vignetting metioned for that lens. I don't notice any with the 300mm 2.8 or my 85mm 1.8.

The shutter makes a different sound than the D300 did, which made me think it's taking pictures slower during sports. I assume it's to spec at 5fps, but it's not like I can count that fast.
    Happy shooting!

Good deal, I just ordered another MB-D10 so I will get up to 8 FPS. I freakin love having the battery grip! Mine crapped out on me and is currently being repaired under waranty and I had to do a whole weekend of Arenacross shooting without it 2 weeks ago and my left wrist started hurting from holding that dang heavy 70-200. The grip evens out the weight nicely and just makes controlling the camera so much easier.

AH man! I'm so happy for you! With the economy hurting us, and two kids in private school, I'm just hoping for a kiss for Valentine's Day. Have fun!

Thanks, sorry for your tough times. We are blessed that I work for the state and my wife is in the medical field. So, our jobs are stable. Now, if we paid for private school for our kids, we might just be wishing for the same as you. I hope your children appreciate the sacrifices you are making for them.

I'll take my current camera and a kiss... I mean from MY wife.

If I had the option of a D3 and no kiss?? No, I'll stay with the kiss and a D300. (Don't make me think about this too long though)
