The egrets were having a feast this morning at Ash Island.
On the menu was:

Eel.

1. But you had to wrestle them first

2. They are similar to spagetti i guess.

3. Make sure they are dead first

4. Don't let your brothers pinch your dinner.

and Fish(mullet i think):

5. First catch them

6. and swallow

You also had to keep an eye out for marauding sea eagles, but that is another story.

cheers,
steve

    nice. those are cool shots.

reminds me a cave dive I did at Morrison Spring in the FL panhandle...hit a lower opening in a cave, popped in and lit it up to see what must have been thousands of fresh water eels. I didn't know they actually bite.

    good work!

Really nice set, Steve. You did a great job with the exposure on these. Each shot has something unique about it to make it stand out. But the eel choking the bird takes the prize for me thumb.gif

tjdiv, eek, they bite really hard with very sharp teeth.

    Thanks Glenn,
they did swallow the eels whole after playing around with them for a while.
they were told not to play with their food, but kids never listen.. !

Thanks Dan, yeah, its a classic, hey mate.. eek7.gif

Terrific shots. eels, snakes and sewer rats are the only things that make my skin crawl. Watch out for the shrieking eels. rolleyes1.gif

After three years of really dedicating myself to bird photography, I have yet to find a great egret with prey! Great action set Steve!
