Flash Bracket - R Strap

I have a D300 and I just bought the battery grip. I also have a R Strap that connects at the base of the camera in the tripod connection.
Prior to my buying the grip, when I took vertical shots, I was doing the chicken wing and my arm was up in the air so I didn't notice this potential problem. Since using my battery grip, I am holding my arm down and my palm goes straight against the R Strap fastener connected in the tripod connector.
I was thinking about maybe getting a flash bracket and the R Strap would connect to that.
Any of you have this same problem?
What do you recommend for a flash bracket if this would work?
Thanks,
MD
