This is from a wedding a I did. The cake is obviously interesting. The bride wanted a lot of the surroundings in all of the photos. I did this one and she loved it but I honestly don't know???? Thoughts??

Yeah, it's a french thing. The groom was french and the bride was mexican. They had both cultures intertwined, quite interesting. They are filled with some kind of cream, strawberry, vanilla, chocolate, etc.

I really like the atmospheric quality about it. At first glance I thought it was two cakes b/c of the reflection and it kind of through me off. The warm colors and location (lights and balconies) plus the unusual-ness (I know it's not a real word, but it's Friday and my mind is tired) of the cake certainly give it an exotic feel.

I had a bride last year who also had a croque en bouche (translated it means "crunch in mouth")...

I'm so dumb, I thought it was two cakes also, now I just took another deeper look at it and realized it was one... ha ha

You asked for thoughts, so here are mine... I like the shot, but I would have stepped to my right so the vertical line of the mirror was not coming from the top of the pastries. It would have moved the reflected cake a little closer and you may have needed to step back just a little to get the same amount of "surroundings" reflected.

Having said all of that, I really like the warmth of the shot. It is very welcoming.

I like that from-above one. Good work.

I always find 'cake shots' a good opportunity to 'stretch' myself... because they are intrinsically so 'standard' and 'boring' that it forces you to be creative in order to make something unique.

I've found focusing in on the details seems to help.
