Nice captures Ira. I'll be visiting there next week for the first time. Are the nests easily spotted? Also I read that you can't park on the turf. Are there parking areas that you can then walk about from? Any suggestions for a first time visitor?

Jack, yes, if you look close you will be able to see the nests. As to parking, there is a parking lot if you want to walk, but the dike roads are wide enouth to allow you to park at the side and leave plenty of room for other vehicals to pass you.

If you like to see and photograph birds, you are going to love the Viera Wetlands and the large number of species you can find there.

Thanks for the info Ira. Nice to know that you can stop along the road as photo ops present themselves.

    Hi Ira
I plan on bringing the following gear.
    1. D700 with 300mm AF-S f/4D and TC14 EII
    2. D80 with 70 - 200 VR
Do you think I should bring anything closer than 70mm for the wetlands?

These are great Ira. clap.gif I was just there on the MI shootout but had to leave due to family medical emergency. What a great spot. I got some cool shots which I will post when I return home to Tucson.

Nice set Ira and I do not think I ever seen a picture of an anhinga's babies. I also just love the head coloration on those pied billed grebes chicks.
