Another night of freezing temps… so I crawled out of my beach sand burrow and froze my hands off. :wink

    :O never seen anything like that! its not frost its chunks of ice! how does that happen?

    We see similar in the Mid Atlantic area every once in while. Happens when ground has been at or below freezing for a while, and then the air temp is just above freezing and light rain or mist falls. The moisture freezes on contact. Certain conditions allow for dripping to create the icycles; other conditions just coat in ice. When ice coat accumulates too much, branches fall, overhead wires break, and the region turns into a wintery mess.....rolleyes1.gif

    These were shot at a nursery where they run the sprinklers all night to try and save their crops when it gets below freezing. Warm weather plants hate temps below freezing and the ice forms an insulation barrier.
