Has anyone ever used this monopod???

Manfrotto 682B???

I saw a TV photog using this monopod with a Canon XL1 to shoot not only stand ups, but also raise his camera above the rest of us at a concert... pretty cool shots with it as they seemed like he was onstage instead of in the photogs pit...

I use a Bogen Manfrotto monopod which has their quick release head, as I use BM quick release plates on all my gear. Mine does not have the three small legs to make it free standing, but I'm not sure I'd trust those anyway, with an expensive camera mounted on it.

I just used it this past weekend in Ouray, Colorado to steady the shots I took of my daughter ice climbing at the Ouray Ice Park, using a Nikon 80-200 f/2.8. I have purchased a ball head for it and a spiked foot to allow more versatility for this kind of outdoor shooting. But it works fine. Have used it also for street portraits at fairs and outdoor events. Much easier to work with than a tripod, especially if you are outdoors and have plenty of light to allow relatively fast shutter speeds.

Holding it over your head, camera-on-a-stick style, might give some cool perspective shots. May have to try that with my new Tokina 11-16 clap.gif
