Ruby Beach Shows Her True Colors

Really a hit or miss on the sunset shots at Ruby. I'm sure Ron will attest to that. Anyways veered off my main account path on Wed and headed to Ruby. At first it looked like it was going to be another wash. Then all of a sudden the colors emerged from the for and clouds on the horizon. The color show lasted for about 10 minutes and that was it. But it was worth it. Very little processing to the color pictures this was the true colors. I'm not a portrait shooter as you can tell from the image of my friend and shooting partner.

No comments yet? Wow, these are all incredible. The colors are unbelievable. The b/w is really nice, as is the portrait. Well done.

Also, I'm incredibly jealous. You and Ron, grrrr.... I need to get back out there. :D

    Light show indeed!

I live on the coast and I just never can predict when the sunset will be good and when it won't, unless we have a clear day.

You captured some gorgeous moments, thanks for sharing. I can almost feel the progression of the light show.

Sweet!!! Excellent series Ray, I wish I was there. #4 is my favorite, excellent detail and lighting on the sea stacks, but all of them are good.

You are right, you never really know when the magic is going to happen. The first time I ever went to Ruby Beach at sunset it was mostly overcast, but I was hoping for the best, and then for about 10 minutes, the light turned awesome:

Since these subjects were backlit, there's not any detail unlike your seastacks in #4 which were side lit. It does seem that there's often a little break in the clouds right as the sun starts to set when it's overcast.

Anyway, great series, one of these days we'll run into each other out there.
