That is a cool shot. I've seen you guys talking about not being able to get the eyes on these guys. I wonder if a little fill-flash might catch a glint in the eye. I know you're probably a good distance away from them, but with a direct burst from the flash gun it might work.
That's a good idea phil and I was very close. the more you shoot in a place the more you learn .If you stay still when they are feeding and in one place the tern may land on the camera thanks for the comments pepper and ben
it just takes time to get the shot stopped by on my way home and got lucky

thanks Harry I have shot almost everyday from yosemite to today could don't shoot a woodpecker to save my life [in yosemite] ,just now drove up to the house and what's on the tree :uhoh it is good to keep the camera handy
