An amaryllis opening and a question

My wife planted this amaryllis just a few weeks ago from a packaged bulb with 'expandable' soil
and it is just now opening.
Taken on Xti/24-105mm L at 105mm in bright sunlight, which caused a few shadows.
Question: Would it have been better to use fill flash to remove the shadow, or does it look more natural
as is?
