Upload size?

Just a quick question on image upload size :-)

I see that it's recommend that I upload full resolution images. However, I won't be selling prints through my site (I live in Europe so it's a bit awkward) and I don't wish my photos to be displayed larger than 800 pixels wide/tall.

Is there any reason to still upload 8MB full res images then or should I just resize to 800 pixels before upload?

Thanks for your help!

Jan

    Hi Jan,

If you resize the photos before uploading, you can't even order prints yourself if you wanted to. With a Standard or Power account, you can limit your photos to XLarge size (usually 1024 px wide). Only the Pro account allows limiting the size to Large or Medium.

So if you want to enforce the 800 px wide size with a Standard or Power account, you would have to resize the photo prior to uploading.

    Thanks for your reply, Sebastian.

I'm not interested in ordering prints through smugmug, either.

I have a Power account so it looks like I'll have to decide if I want my photos to be shown at 1024 pix wide or if I should resize to 800 pix before upload headscratch.gif
