Not sure if this has been posted on DGrin yet, but Nikon recently announced the new Nikkor 35mm f/1.8G AF-S DX:

Should be around $199 in the US sometime in March. This makes me :barb as a D40x owner, although I just bought the 50mm f/1.4G AF-S in Dec. The question is, should I sell my 1.4, buy this, and put the extra $ towards more glass?

On a DX-format camera like yours, the 50 is a nice longish "portrait" lens and the 35 is a slightly wider "normal" lens. If you can afford to keep both of them, I think you'll find both of them are useful.

My question is rather I should sell my Sigma 30mm f/1.4? Given that I can make about $100 by switching the Nikon, it might be worth it. Although I definitely want to see some images from the 35mm to see its IQ before I make the switch.

Because Nikon loves the extra cash when people have to upgrade glass when they switch to FF.

The FF 35mm F/2D is still a great piece of glass

a HA! I knew it was a plot, an evil evil plot. :D

Good thing my newest (used D300) is DX so the awesome DX lenses I *do* have can go with the faster body I need (love my D50 but harder for indoor events, better for my own hiking/riding/biking/skiing/etc adventures).
