Hi all:D Been a while since I posted, haven't had the macro gear out much, January was pretty full on with portrait work for me.

Anyway, ventured to the yard and found something I have never seen before, a triangular spider - Arkys Clavatus

First is with flash, 2nd is natural light. I have added a Gary Fong "Puffer" diffuser to my poor man's kit since I last posted and getting my money's worth out of it.

And of course the usual suspects were around too:

Thanks guys. I have some from yesterday to add soon too. He is quite sick of me bothering him now I think. Unlike the mantis who posed for me Laughing.gif

I love all these mantis shots; are they easy to photograph? Do they tend to freeze when you're close, or do you think they really *do* "pose"? I find them fascinating and really alien-looking. I've never seen one in the wild.
Please ignore my opinions! And if I ask for constructive criticism, please give it to me. I have really thick skin! :huh

I wonder if that's less spider, and more just arachnid family. If I remember correctly, the arachnids that grew "legs" from their mouths, were closer to scorpions than spiders. Something about the front pair becoming more feelers than legs (and in the case of Horseshoe Crabs and Scorpions, claws).

    Who knows though.

I still think spiders are disgusting creatures, and anything arachnid really. Although the Horseshoe Crab is pretty freaking awesome.
