A New Blanket

The cold rain last weekend covered the San Gabriel Mountains in a new blanket of snow. The rain season in California has been abysmal for the last few years so these mountains are barren looking most of the time. It's exciting to see them with a different look.

1. The cloud clears and the sun comes out just in time near the end of the day for a glorious view of the new mountain snow.

2. A new sports complex and shopping center atop an old landfill.

3. The low cloud with the color from the setting sun makes this look like the mountain is on fire.

I like the 3rd one, too. How rare is it to see clouds that low?

Pretty rare around here especially one that well-defined and a clear view across the valley.

I always liked the winter the best in Los Angeles. The mountains are
pretty impressive the way they rise so abruptly.

The third shot of the clouds is really cool, not something you see
    all the time.

    Thanks for posting.
