It was in my sweatshirt pocket as I was bending down to shoot shorebirds. By the time I got almost prone the loose sweatshirt (and the tc) was getting drenched. It no longer focuses.

No, the 1.7 died a day or 2 later. At eagles nest I had 1.7 on when the eagle was just sitting and I did not think it would fly. I shot without a tc when I was hoping it would fly.
