Ok, so to start off. I am not happy with how these photos turned out. I was going for a specific relationship between the photo and a title or theme "Tainted Love" (like the song). I'm posting these photos while giving you my idea and my tries with the hope of maybe making this shoot successful.
Thanks in advance for any help on how I can make my idea a photo.

Not sure I get what you're saying...
Btw...I can't re-shoot this anytime soon. The nikon was my grandma's and she just came over for a visit a couple weeks ago. So to get my hands on another won't be 'till I can get down to visit her (hour away...).

The red pillow makes it happen for me leaving out the guesswork and
pointing directly to message.
Also like that both have lenses on in that image. To me the Nikon is more "in" the shot than the Canon with image 1. I would look at giving them somekind of equal presence yet maintaining the intimacy and intertwining with the straps. Lighting falls into question and I guess is a personal taste thing.
The black against white exposure you have done pretty darn good with. I just
think some of the Nikon body lacks some needed detail? Borrow another
camera that will do and play around with various layouts and lighting?
The pillow seems to have some lint or something on it? A final shot needs
to be clean in every way once you find the layout and lighting you like.
Thats my Nichols worth for what its worth. Hope it helps.
