I haven't posted on Dgrin in a long time but I thought I'd share a slideshow from a great wedding I shot this fall in Maryland. This wedding had it all complete with a huge fireworks show for the guests at the end. We also got to do some great pictures on the bride and groom's beautiful Chris Craft runabout.

    Hi edh.

Nice shots and accompanying music but i would slow the slideshow just a tad.. you dont get the chance to really take in the photos and it makes it a bit unnerving.. headscratch.gif

15524779-Ti.gif - By the time it registers it's too late to hit the pause button. What I saw looked good, but my nerves couldn't take watching the whole show.

Loved the show, but as others have said, when I wanted to stop and look at an image, it was already gone.
    Your work is inspiring!

Truely amazing photos, Ed!! iloveyou.gif I do think the slideshow is a bit on the fast side, but if you want to show off all those beautiful photos, you kind of have to go a bit faster ... I really enjoyed!! Will make some nice shots for your portfolio! iloveyou.giflustclap.gif

Thanks everyone! I completely agree with all of you about the speed of the slides. The version I posted was actually a shortened version I had put together for the wedding coordinator to show to people (she didn't want it to be too long but at the same she time wanted a lot of pictures in there so I had to strike a compromise).

In case anyone is curious, the version that went to the bride is linked below. It's pretty long and I didn't post it initially since I didn't think everyone would want to sit through it! There are some extra pictures in this one that didn't make the shortened one. The slides are still decently fast (bride wanted a lot of pictures in the slideshow!) but a little bit slower than the first version.

The first song was written by the bride's cousin and sung by him for the first dance (his website is here: http://www.dangardner.com/). The second song was added at the request of the bride!

Excellent job. Really well done. Can I ask how you completed the slide show? The fast transitions tell a great story and your compositions are spectacular. Would love to learn from you.

Sure thing. The program I use is called Showit Web (http://www.showitfast.com/#/showit-web)

It's a pretty simple program and the functionality could be a little more flexible. At the same time the simpleness is what makes it great. It allows you to very quickly put together a slideshow that is optimized for web viewing.

    Great Work!
NIce images and a great variety of shots. You have a wonderful eye for the moment and it shows in your photographs. One thing I really like is your candids of people having a great time or shooting a shot when they were not expecting it. Those people in the shot will be surprised that you took that image. Very nice! At the reception, were you using another studio strobe that fired off your on camera strobe? It looks like there a flash firing each time you shot your on camera picture.

    Anyways, thanks for sharing.

    Thanks!

I was using an off camera flash for a lot of the reception shots. It was a bare bulb (no diffuser, soft box, etc.) Canon 430 Ex on a lightstand up near the band. I was firing it with Radio Poppers and a 580 EX II for the first 20 minutes or so but then they stopped working (I've never been able to get them to work more than 20 minutes in a row!) so I just shot using the 580 and the built in IR. I was right up to the limit of the range for the remote flash for much of the time but overall it worked pretty well.

Great stuff for sure. As others have said it moves too fast but I know how it is... you don't want it to be a 5 hr show and you can't decide which ones to remove! Good choice on the David Gray song too. He's awesome.

That's the way I roll my reception lighting as well... works well, imho, and your images back that up.

How did you license the David Gray song in the 'fast' version of the slide show -- I'd love to be able to use that song, but can't find a reasonable place to license it.
