Turks and Caicos - Providenciales
My family just returned from a 1 week trip to the Beaches resort in the Turks and Caicos and I thought I would post about the journey as I had not found much posted about this island on dgrin prior to our departure.
The first thing you notice is the incredible color of the water

[I had recently bought the Canon 10-22 lens and had a bit of fun with ultrawide shots on this trip]
The resort is located on Grace Bay beach which is a bit narrow but provides for miles of walkable beach on the softest sand I have ever felt.
Footprints into the warm water

Though the beach was great, we spent a lot of time in the main pool

About a mile down the beach lies a great pier that I struggled with photographically. I tried different lenses and angles and could not decide on the best version in the end...

We rented a car for one day to explore the rest of the island while our side was gripped by strong winds and currents.
Sapadillo Bay

Taylor Bay - we hit this spot at the perfect time (tide was starting to go out). It was a seemingly endless stretch of low water on beautiful sand.

Then drove up to the Blue Hills area and found another great pier

And a few casualties of the recent hurricane waiting for repairs

I ditched the wife and kids the next morning for a ride to Turtle Tail

Almost lost a shoe here in the quicksand-like clay!
Found this place by following an unmarked road to an overlook

Then hiked down a path to find

Back on Grace Bay beach and out for another walk to the pier

Last night and were treated to some more dramatic skies

Can't say enough good things about the resort by the way. Especially for a family with young kids.
Hope you enjoyed the trip report!

Hey Andy,
I remembered your post but noticed it was the only one and things have changed a bit since 04
You definitely should plan a return trip...With my 1 and 3 year old kids, I'm thinking this might become a yearly destination. Just can't beat a built-in camp
