Browser pointing to these facebook links when uploading

Hi everyone,

I use Internet Explorer to upload to smugmug.

Ive noticed today a slower than usual service. On the status bar I have noted that it has tried to connect to facebook connect? What is that?

Here is the first link that comes up:

www.connect.facebook.com/extern/login_status?api key - didnt catch the whole lot of the address

and then

name.smugmug.com/services/fbconnect/xd_receiver.htm

Why is this transmitting information to facebook? Im a little worried about this?
