Moving sub-catagories to new catagory

Hi ,
I have 23 sub-catagories under "sports" on my smugmug site. I would like to move the the subcatagories to new catagories that I have created. The only way I can figure out how to do this is to open each gallery and assign it to the new catagory. I have 180 galleries under Sports so that would take a long time. Is there an easier way to move sub-catagories to new catagories?

Hi Shamguess Sorry but there is no batch way to move Subcategories. You need to do it on a gallery by gallery basis. A program that makes it easier is SmugBrowser: http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=47484. That is a Firefox extension that allows you to upload and manage your site.

Another way to do this if you are moving most or all of your galleries to a single new Category is to just rename the Sports Category and then create a new Sports Category.

What a major pain. Unfortunately the "Sports" catagory cannot be renamed because it is one of Smugmug's default names. I guess the lesson learned is to not use the default names but to create slightly different custom names. Meanwhile it looks like I now have to open and customize 180 galleries!
