Thanks Phil and Brian.
Phil- No book. I just spend hours trying to figure it out. I've put a few out to diptera.info for ID also. Seems there's just so many different flies out there. I can't find a book about them. I'd settle for just something to get you into the right family with these things. There are a few basic flies in my insect book, but it doesn't tell you how to go about identifying them or putting them into a family. If you find a book or a starting point, let me know. I figured I could find something on the internet, but that wasn't true either. It's very time consuming, but it is winter still here, so there's not a lot else to shoot yet. I suspect in the summer, I won't be spending this much time on them. They're fun to shoot, especially in the still cooler weather, cuz they stay pretty still.
