My biggest thing with ring photos is to really utilize the theme and what you have available to you at the time.
1. This is from the wedding I second shot with urbanaries. It was an indian wedding and this was a shawl type thing she had as part of her outfit that she wasn't wearing at the time we took the photo... it make a great backdrop!!
2. This was from a wedding I did this past December, I placed it carefully on part of the Christmas tree and it worked very nicely I thought
3. This couple had their reception in the Jim Bean room at the White Sox park, so this was a fitting background I thought for their rings.
4. This couple got married very close to the beach... so while we were doing photos of the two of them, I utilized this log for a nice shot of their ring in the sun.
5. At this wedding the couple this reallllly cool unity candle (which was custom made I think) and I just couldn't let go of the chance to balance the rings on it:
6. Sometimes random table decorations, like fake leaves, can be your best friend too:
7. Some people like to stay away from flowers since they're too popular... I think they can be used if done appropriately (note, balancing this on a LIVE flower, not so easy)
8. Sometimes simplicity with the right amount of bokeh can produce a nice effect too (one of my older ones):
Honestly it's all a learning game of being more bold, adventurous and getting really good at balancing things (some of my best shots were magical acts of balancing I think... or just being crazy enough to put the rings somewhere that everyone else gives you funny looks while you're photographing them). So take their rings, promise to return in 10-15 minutes, and go have fun trying to put them next to whatever is available and works!
Corey, I liked all of your ring shots, amazing creativity, but the last two are just gorgeous, love the color and detail. It's harder than it looks composing scenes like the beach themed one you posted here.
Yep. The crazy thing is, I didn't do it on purpose the first time I shot it, and only realized that it was mickey mouse when I saw it on the back of my camera...
Ring pictures is not as easy as I thought, I had a hard time to think about something, then finally decided to just stack the rings on top of the gift box. Even stacking the rings is not an easy job

Fabulous shots everybody. Perhaps someday in the not too distant future, I'll have the chance to mimmic some of the work I've seen (but I might need to invest in a macro lens).
OK, here goes.....
I'm finally feeling confident enough to start posting my ring shots!
This is from my most recent wedding, the rod iron piece was hanging in the couples bedroom over their bed......

A few of these I posted recently, but here they are anyway.
Their rings say in hebrew "I am my beloveds"
This was a wedding at a ski resort.
This on I just liked.
This one had a beach theme (wedding on an island)
And this one there wasnt really a theme, just their flowers and stuff I could scrounge up the few minutes I stole their rings during the reception.
:-P
