New PowerShot - shoots RAW and Full HD!
I just got this announcement from Canon. This camera has been available in other parts of the world for several months now. It's finally going to be available in the U.S. I've been waiting for it...
PowerShot SX1 IS
10 megapixels, 1080p movie mode, 20x wide-angle optical zoom (28-560mm), 2.8-inch widescreen LCD; coming April for about $600
From the Canon announcement:
Put your hand around the perfectly-shaped grip of Canon's sporty new PowerShot SX1 IS and you're ready for a shooting experience that's advanced in every way. Superb still images powered by Canon's DIGIC 4 Image processor, evolved Face Detection Technology and a wide-angle 20x optical zoom are only the beginning. You can also create Full HD movies and see every detail on your HDTV thanks to HDMI output. The 10.0-megapixel SX1 IS is the very first PowerShot equipped with a CMOS sensor, a hallmark of Canon's lauded EOS line.

I have the G-9 and find I grab it almost every time I walk out the door. A great option to my DSLR.

I had the S2IS and sold it to upgrade to a 30D. Later I bought a G9 for a companion P&S as the Sx series did not have raw capability. I've been watching this camera, waiting for it's availability in the U.S. I could really make use of that 20x optical zoom and I love the movable LCD on back. My G9 will be going up for sale soon... The HD video will just be icing on the cake.
