Here are some pics from my session yesterday at Ash Island and Stockton Sandspit on the Hunter River.

1. Intermediate Egret chawing down on a froggy.

3. Gull-billed Tern hunting for semaphore crabs. he caught a few.

4. Eastern Curlew, this bloke will be heading back to Siberia in a few months.

    I assume that you took these with your 400. How much of a chore is that with the lack of IS?

    Some better light would have helped these images...but, I seldom let that stop me! :D

    Ric, i have never used an IS lens so I have no comparison. The 400 is all i know. It is light.

    Let the young fit blokes lug around all those heavy big lenses.. eek7.gif

    The light was horrendous but that is no excuse.
    I still see myself as very much in the learning/beginning phase..
