Lense Comparison???

Okay, I have finally come down to making a decision between these 2 lense's for my next purchase. Plan on ordering from BH Photo on 2/20/09.
Sigma APO 70-200 f2.8 II DG Macro HSM for 4/3 mount ($715.00).
and
Oly 50- 200 f2.8-3.5 ($999.00)

I currently use an OLY Evolt 510, and need a fast lense to shoot indoor soccer. (Bad lighting). My question is.. Which one do you all think would be the better of the two?????:dunno :dunno
I like the OLY for it's reputation, but I am afraid that when I get to the max zoom, I will be losing f stops to get that "freeze" at a high shutter speed.
I like the Sigma for the f2.8 through the zoom, not to mention the price. Looking to drop a grand (budgeted) for a lense so that is not to much of a fear factor. Please help me decide!!!!!
Thank You for your opinions.

Ron

I think you will find that the Zuiko 50-200mm, f/2.8-3.5 ED SWD is a bit sharper wide open but, yes, it is offset somewhat by the 2/3rd stop less efficiency at 200mm. Understand that the Sigma may not be an actual f2.8 at 200mm because a lot of companies "fudge" the figures a bit, so the actual difference may not be that great.

If it were me, I would go with the Zuiko partly because of the Olympus reputation for better quality control versus Sigma.

    Ordered New Toy
Ziggy, Thanks for your input on the 2 lense's. I finally got the nerve to push to "Buy" button on B&H Photo web site. I decided to go with the Sigma 70-200mm f.28 lense instead of the OLY 55-200mm 2.8-3.5. Sorry I went against your reccomendation for the OLY lense, but I was to afraid to lose the f stops. Lense will be here next week, and I plan to shoot a professional indoor soccer team here in Cincinnati, OH. I guess if I do not like the results, I can send it back.
My uncle who does viedography for FOX Sports West, told me the B&H are very good to deal with.

    Thanks, Ron
