how to set prices for blurb books, tiny prints, etc

I am new to smugmug and I would love some help. I have set my print prices and now I would like to set prices for a client that wants to order a photo book and cards. How do i do this? Thanks.

My question was answered by a real person from smugmug. Currently our customers cant order these types of items through smugmug. We can order it for them.

You can set your price on Blurb.com. The workaround I use is to provide a link to your book on blurb, and they can either order it directly ( at the price you set) or you can order for them. I agree would be nice to be integrated in the pro UI.

How much do you usually mark up your books from the base price (e.g., 100%)? Also, do you charge for each photo in the book in addition to the book charge or do you simply charge for the book and include the photos? For example, I charge $15 for a 5x7 print. If someone ordered a 7x7 soft copy book with 20 photos, would it be reasonable to charge $300 (20 photos x $15) + $12.95 (base price of the book from Blurb) and add a 100% mark up on the book base price for a total of $325? It seems a little steep.

The books you create through blurb are a bit pricey to begin with IMHO. The ones I have are marked up about 15%.

Just mark up the book. The mark up you can get away with also depends on which type of book you create. Its been awhile since I've done one, but the large format with premium paper will cost more than a smaller book, and so you could potentially make more profit on a smaller book by skipping some of the "extras." I also know that several similar companies have come into existence so you may want to look around to see what other products/costs are available.
