Sunrise in the mountains

Catching good morning light means getting up in the middle of the night. Oh, what joy! But mostly, it's worth the effort. :wink
After getting to the starting point by car well before dawn, we climbed a snowy trail through a forest up the mountain. It was especially mysterious without our headlamps on. When we reached the plateau, bluish light greeted us while we hurried to unpack our tripods. Soon the sun came up and colored those few clouds which streaked the sky yellow and orange. But don't let the sun rays fool you - it was freezing, about -15 C (5 F), and with the wind howling across the plains, my fingers almost fell off after a few hours of shooting. :wow
This winter has been really generous with snow and it's funny to see the shepherds' houses almost completely covered, only piles of snow indicate that there are cabins underneath!
I won't bore you with details anymore, enjoy the photos instead!

Your work is always so beautiful and refreshing! This is such a nice series that I cannot possibly pick one favorite--but I really love #9! You did a great job with the lighting in all of these.

Nr 4 is a wallhanger for sure!
#4 is incredible!
Very pleasing to look at, it sure looked cold and sometimes windy.

It really was a rewarding hike. If only getting up in the middle of the night was any easier!

Wow! These are great. I was going to list my favorites but I like all of them. Some fantastic compositions. Personally, I don't find getting up in the middle of the night hard, it's staying up in the middle of the day that I have difficulty with
