I have a question...are there any battery packs that let you hook up two flashes simultaneously?....if you are rockin two camera bodies?

like the following?

I'm going to have two camera bodies each with flash, and I would like to make sure they recharge fast...do I actually need two battery packs?

Thanks in advance!

Check out the Black Box - I think it'll get you done.

Disclaimer: I've never touched one of these, let alone used one. All I know is what I've read - but all that was on the internetdeal.gif

I think some of the Quantum batteries can be rigged with a "Y" cable to supply 2 flashes, it is mostly for dual remote flashes (or powering flash plus camera), not 2 flashes on 2 different camera bodies. Other batteries, like the one Scott directed you to, have dual outputs and can handle 2 cords to different devices.

I suspect you would hate having 2 flashes on 2 bodies tethered together.

For 2 flashes on 2 bodies you really need 2 external batteries as well.

However, how often will you really need both flashes to work so quickly? Maybe one of the flashes really doesn't need the rapid recycling?

That's a good point Ziggy....I guess I just curious to see if people actually did this.

    Thanks for the help.

I would be changing lenses rather than carrying 2 full sets of camera/lens attched to a single battery.....that just seems to spell disaster......after having used Quantum batteries and also nicad cells from Sunpak (for my 622) they seem to die quickly and at the most in-opportune time when not left on their respective trickle charges (wall warts)............

After following Scott's linkl to the BLACK BOX......that may be my next power supply for my Sunpak 622's.

The big problem with "Fast Recycle" times on a flash is heat build up.......I have seen literaly hundreds of strobes that were discolored yellow or slightly orange and if you touched the lens it was sticky......that was an immediate sign that the strobe had been over heated by fast recycling and firing....it also wears out the flash capacitor.........I had on old version of a Vivatar 285HV that grenaded on me because I used a "Turbo" charging system on it......it wascycleingso fast aht eveytinggot so hot it literaly came apart just like a grenade.......so if a strobe says its recycle time is 5 seconds then do not put a battery on it to recycle in 1.5 seconds......that battery is doing damage and lessening the life of your strobe.
