Practicing High Key PP_What's wrong with this?

I was looking at some tutorials on the web for creating high key effects (Like here http://www.dphotojournal.com/photoshop-tutorial-high-key-bw-portrait/) so I decided to try it on some old self-portraits I'd taken with a point and shoot. I feel like I didn't do it properly. It's not exactly black and white, since I'm a big blue tint fan for some reason, but I feel like the "lighting" is too flat. (It could just be a bad picture to begin with -_-) Opinions/advice are much appreciated.

btw I only see the middle image..red x on the other 2.

I am not keen on the blue tint but beyond that..just my 2 cents..it appears "too" washed out and maybe a bit too contrasty as well. I say too washed out because I almost lose your lips..but then your nostrils for example just pop out becasue they are so dark.

Marikris, you whites are totally blown out, way past 255 so your exposure is way off. The eyes are also lifeless. Generally high key is white on a white or very light background. Hope that helps some.

Thank you guys! I see it now. It's very nice to have other eyes that can tell you better what you're doing wrong lol. I appreciate it :)
