At last a hoverfly found the crocuses although the crocus is a bit past it by now.

Love the CROPPED shot Brian, the detail in the eye and the scattered pollen attached to its body are what I find very appealing about that shot clap.gif

What can I say.... freakin awesome as per usual from you my friend thumb.gif

Thanks for looking and commenting all :)

Sanka- was using an MPE-65 but any macro lens from major manufacturers is capable of giving very sharp images.

You know, I hear you can catch hoverflies if you can get close enough to shake salt on their wings.

    Or something.

But who needs salt when there's all that pollen on that fly?!

You must have the "Patience of Job" to have gotten that second shot! But as I've been saying lately: Photography is a lot like fishing. You just have to wait for the right bite!

    Thanks for the comments :)
Not sure the salt trick would work but I have had hoverflies walk onto my fingers to warm up :)

Funny- I used to be an angler - gave up when the fish in my pond were bigger than the ones I was catching :)
Not quite true but very nearly :D
