    1099
Wouldn't you have received a 1099 from SM if they'd sent you $$ in 2008??

I can't imagine why you'd need the TIN for Smugmug - and I am a tax preparer. A pro site is $150. You wouldn't 1099 someone for products either.

sorry, I figured the folks who handle the checks and 1099s would be the ones to know the answer. hence, a 'start' to contact them, not a final answer. I'll hush next time.

I agree (and I'm not a tax preparer). There would be no place or reason to put a taxpayer id number for SM on your return.

headscratch.gif I never said that SM's TIN went on the OP's return, but some tax preparation software asks for the TIN of the payor reporting on a 1099. I have no idea why. My post was only to point out that if SM had issued a 1099, their TIN would be on it, so the OP could invite their tax preparer's attention to it.
