All-Day Outdoor Event - No Bags Allowed - What Camera Stuff Should I Take?

I'm going to one of the practice rounds of www.masters.org and they allow cameras on those days, but no bags (certain small bags are allowed, mainly like a small ladies purse but nothing that could carry meaningful gear).

When I went before, I had just gotten the D200 and just stuffed some extra batteries and memory cards in my pockets. I kept the 18-200VR lens on the camera and shot all day with the CP filter in place.

Should I plan differently this year?

I think the 85mm 1.8 would be neat to have for a few shots, but here's what I'm currently planning (keep in mind I'll be walking up and down hills all day, most likely wearing a golf shirt, some decent 'pocket' shorts, etc.):

Around my neck - D200 with 18-200VR lens, CP filter, and tulip glare guard
Right hand side pocket - 2 extra batteries, extra CF cards
Left hand side pocket - the 50mm 1.8 would be easier to carry, but I think the 85mm 1.8 would get me a few more enjoyable shots
Misc - a Nikon lens pen, wal-mart plastic bag and/or ziploc bags in case it rains, and a small towel also.

I haven't decided whether or not to take the D200 dual battery grip, but I'll have 3 batteries with me either way.

I don't think I'll need the 20mm 2.8 or 35-105 2.8 or the flash, anything else I'm missing?

How about a photography vest? They look kinda dorky but might do the trick. Maybe wear cargo pants with lots of pockets.

Okay here is the plan take the big lens, grab a strap from Black Rapid That way you don't loose the camera off your shoulder and it is not a pain in the neck. You can put some extras in the strap/ 2 batteries /cards and bring the grip which would be attached to the camera. If you are having a friend come with a purse/small bag that is allowed throw a small lense in there. You have extra room in your pockets and you have as much equipment as possible with a comfortable foot print. I do not know what I would do without my Black Rapid strap it is amazing and I use a 50d/grip and 70-200L Canon 2 extra batters and 2 cards with no issue or strain.. This is just my two cents..

Sir, all you need is a camera (1) and a lens
all the rest is not needed or neccesary.

you are just going to take some snap shots, your not covering the masters for golf digest.

all the preparation is wasteful use of good brain power.

relax, take a camera and and a good lens and enjoy

Do bring a plastic bag to cover the camera and lens if it starts raining.

    I second the notion of:

Camera and 18-200 with lens hood
Put the polarizer in your pocket and you're done.

Extra batteries and extra CF cards are a waste - really, no need to take 2,000 photos here. Short prime lenses aren't going to have much real use here so leave the primes at home. If anything you'll suffer for lack of reach. When I shoot the practice round of the local pro tournament I use a 300mm plus 1.4 TC and still lament the lack of reach / shallow dof.
