This is not one of the harmless watersnakes that get mistakenly classifed as "water moccasins". This one is the real deal. I was a little more careful about foot placement the rest of the afternoon.

Yeah, he had a pretty bad attitude about the whole shoot.
Actually, it was still fairly cool for reptiles to be out and the sun was disappearing at the time, so he was chilly. He was pretty slow moving because of that. But you're right, he was vibrating his tail at me.

It's an Eastern Cottonmouth (aka "Water Moccasin"). He was in a swamp on Wheeler Wildlife Refuge in Alabama.
